So without further ado, please enjoy our 7 favorite things about Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition. After talking with Vignocchi, we had a very good idea about where Disney Infinity is headed and why we are so excited about this latest version of the game. You can find out all of the details about this new Disney Infinity experience on the official page, but we wanted a little more insight so we sat down with John Vignocchi, VP Production at Disney Interactive and producer on Disney Infinity.
That’s right – lightsabers have come to the Toy Box. For the third iteration of the wildly popular game, which allows you to place gorgeously stylized, toy-like versions of some of your favorite characters on a small platform and then control those characters in mission-based gameplay and less restrictive, user-generated Toy Box levels that allow for unique character combinations, the Disney Infinity team has incorporated characters and elements from (deep breath) Star Wars. There are still some annoyances here, but overall it’s much smoother sailing. After months of speculation and an endless build-up of excitement, Disney Infinity 3.0 Edition was announced this morning. Instead you can purchase items with blue sparks from the shop. Another pleasant change is that you no longer have to gamble in the hopes of getting the item you want for the toy box. This streamlines game play and does make it much easier and less frustrating to play. Instead of a dozen different types of currency to keep track of, upgrades can be purchased through the blue sparks you get from fallen enemies. On the bright side, Disney Infinity 2.0 fixed many of the errors that were not well received in the first version. Compared to Disney Infinity where there where you got a lot more playtime before buying packages, this one is a lot blander for the base price. There’s only one play area, the Avenger’s Playset, and collecting everything costs a lot of money. In Disney Infinity 2.0, you need to buy a whole bunch of add-ons to make the game feel worthwhile.
Unfortunately, while the first game had a generous number of different places to go and things to do. Not as much to doĭisney Infinity 2.0 is supposed to be the sequel to the first game, Disney Infinity. If you’re the creative type, this one area easily makes up for all the other flaws in the game. The toybox allows you to customize your own areas, and invent your own world.
The toy box is one of the best areas of the game, especially considering you only get one premade area in this version. Switching to a new character often requires very different game play tactics, which can make each new toy feel very fresh and different. These differences help make them feel fresh and unique, instead of the same thing in different skins. While Iron Man might fly around the city, Spiderman must jump and shoot webs. It’s not just the difference between Spiderman’s costume and Iron Man’s. The toys themselves have been designed very nicely, so that they look and feel different from each other. This interface helps divide the space up more neatly, and help you orient between real and pretend. In this game, you are given a box of toys, a TV, and a console that lets you jump between the ‘real’ world and the ‘toy’ world. Whether you simply want to display characters on a shelf or take them onto a playground, there’s tons of fun things to do with your toys in this latest addition of the game. Disney Infinity 2.0 brings all your favorite Marvel superheroes together in the form of toys and allows you to play with them in a variety of different ways.
